Drug and Alcohol

The Drug and Alcohol Program's primary purpose is to treat and prevent chemical addictions.

We offer services and support involving a treatment program for providing professional care to both chemically dependent individuals and their families.

We also maintain a Prevention Program that provides a classroom and community outreach aimed at reducing or even eliminating the potential risk factors for addiction.

TREHAB'S DRUG AND ALCOHOL TREATMENT PROGRAM

Trehab's Drug & Alcohol Treatment Program offers:

Outpatient counseling for those individuals (adults and adolescents) suffering from chemical abuse/dependency.  These services are comprehensive in nature.  Referrals to inpatient treatment or other rehabilitation/support services are made as needed. Trehab also provides services for family members and encourages family counseling to address drug abuse/chemical dependency problems.  All services and counseling are handled with complete confidentiality.  The Trehab Center's counseling program is voluntary.  Should an individual indicate a need for counseling and be willing to participate in the treatment plan, he/she is accepted as a Trehab client.

COMPREHENSIVE SCREENING & ASSESSMENT

This service is offered to persons with private health insurance or the ability to pay for such services.  An assessment of a person's relationship to mood-altering chemicals is performed and the results are discussed with the client.  The purpose of this service is to raise the person's awareness regarding his/her relationship with mood-altering substances and, based on assessment results, to offer the person a choice of treatment options.  The screening and assessment process may take between one and three sessions to complete.  The cost is $60/session.  Persons unable to pay the assessment fee or who have public insurance (medical assistance ACCESS card) may receive a comprehensive screening/assessment through the Susquehanna Country D&A Commission, Single County Authority, by calling 570-278-7100 or 570-278-7101.

INDIVIDUAL OUTPATIENT COUNSELING SERVICES

This service is offered to persons with a desire to change their present relationship with mood-altering chemicals and who choose individual counseling as their type of service.  Sessions are scheduled as needed, usually on a weekly or biweekly basis to assist the person in identifying the types of changes he/she wants to make in his/her life.  The client uses counseling to develop a treatment plan consisting of activities that support a healthful lifestyle.

GROUP EXPERIENCES

S.A.M.E. (Self-Assessment, Motivation & Education) GROUP - The group experience is for persons who need assistance in the recognition, understanding and acceptance of their chemical dependency and the recovery process.  The treatment and counseling goal is to provide education regarding the nature of addiction, the negative effects of chemical use and what the recovery and relapse processes are.  Our hope is to help the clients in developing personal motivation to effect a change in their chemical use.    Group members meet for 16 1 1/2-hour sessions.  Enrollment is open-ended.

STABILIZATION STAGE GROUP

This is a group experience for persons who recognize that their relationship with mood-altering chemicals requires change and want to abstain from all mood-altering chemicals.  However, such persons may be experiencing difficulty or discomfort with making wanted changes.  The primary goal of group is to assist the person in self-assessment, learning of life skills and use of personal resources to learn effective self-management of one's thinking, feeling and behavior without the use of mood-altering chemicals.  Enrollment is open-ended and there is no time limit for attendance.  Group meets once weekly for 1 1/2 hours.

RELAPSE PREVENTION EDUCATION & COUNSELING GROUP

This group provides care for persons assessed at high risk for relapse (return to drug use/abuse).  Participants learn that relapse and recovery are both processes that require awareness, understanding, acceptance and planning to avoid a return to substance use.  The clients reach their goals through group activities/exercises and interactions and relapse warning signs.  Groups meet for 16 1 1/2- hour sessions.

ADOLESCENT RECOVERY GROUP

This group is open to adolescents who need help because of a problem related to their use of mood-altering chemicals.  Members are given assigned reading and relevant handouts and assignments to complete.  The sessions are used to discuss readings and/or handouts and participate in group activities/exercises.  Videos will also be integrated into some sessions.  Group meets for eight 1 1/4-hour sessions.  The goal of the group experience is to reduce or eliminate the risk of drug abuse and to change their relationship with mood-altering chemicals.

EDUCATION GROUP

This group experience is for persons who may be at high risk for alcohol and other drug abuse and chemical dependency.  The purpose of the group is to provide reliable/relevant information to raise awareness about problems or risk factors related to substance use.  Group members are helped to recognize the harmful consequences of unreasonable substance use.  People in the group may use such information to make behavior changes and to avoid problems related to substance abuse.  The group meets for four 1 1/2-hour sessions.
