2015 Battle of the Schools

The 2015 Battle of the Schools Can Sculpture competition is complete, and the participating schools put forth some impressive sculptures.  This year's theme was Americana, and entries ranged from a tribute to veterans to a variety of skylines.

The judges made their rounds on Friday, November 6 and made the following decisions:

  •  Most Inspirational Can Sculpture-Montrose Area Schools-Theme-Sea to Shining Sea-Golden Gate Bridge
  • Americana at It's Best-Elk Lake School District-Theme-United We Stand
  • Most Patriotic Can Sculpture-Mountain View Elementary School-Theme-American Flag with Betsy Ross stars
  • Best of Show-Mountain View High School-Theme-Rockin' in the USA/Manhattan Skyline
  • Most Dramatic Can Sculpture-Blue Ridge School District-Salute to our Veterans.

While this annual event is fun, it also serves an important purpose.  Once disassembled, the sculptures submitted represent close to an estimated 10,000 food items for the Susquehanna County food pantries.
