Housing DevelopmentThe Housing Development Program endeavors to assist communities and low-to-moderate income families through housing revitalization and restoration, coupled with community improvement. Housing Development also works to provide access to the homebuyer market for first-time homebuyers through pre-purchase and home ownership education and counseling. TREHAB, a Community Action Agency and Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), is committed to serving communities and partnering with them regarding housing and revitalization efforts. Trehab is a member organization of the Rural Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) endeavoring to provide homeownership opportunities to more rural Pennsylvanians and broaden housing development activities. The Housing Development Program is a continuum of programs that provide affordable, decent, safe and innovative housing for low-moderate income people. Trehab Homeownership ProgramHomeownership Program – This program is available in Bradford, Susquehanna and Tioga counties for first-time homebuyers. Eight-hours of education inform consumers about all aspects of home purchase and homeownership. One-on-one counseling is available to assist the homebuyer with the purchase of their home. Down payment and closing assistance may be available to eligible households. Trehab Multi-Family Housing DevelopmentsPacker - WilburPacker - Wilbur – A $3.5 million renovation of the Wilbur Hotel in Sayre, Bradford County, PA. The building is a four-story structure currently housing commercial businesses on the first floor, and three upper floors containing 30 apartments providing affordable housing for low-income residents. The building was completely renovated, providing residents with modern apartments and amenities such as elevator access, security system, community room and laundry services. The building was opened for occupancy in July of 2002. Golden EagleGolden Eagle – Formally known as the Golden Eagle Hotel, this housing development is located in downtown Towanda, Bradford County, PA. The building was extensively renovated and offers two commercial units on first floor and four spacious rental apartments on second and third floors. All mechanical and electrical systems were replaced providing energy efficient apartments. The apartments have two or three bedrooms with amenities such as air conditioning, security system and laundry services. This development was opened for occupancy in June of 2004. Lockhart Elderly Housing AssociatesLockhart Elderly Housing Associates – The ‘Lockhart’ is located at the junction of West Lockhart Street and N. Lehigh Avenue in downtown Sayre, Bradford County, PA. Renovation of this Sayre cornerstone historical structure started in July, 2005 with residency available September 1, 2006. Total development cost was $2 million. This three-story building with a Victorian design provides space for three commercial businesses on first floor and nine apartments on second and third floors. The apartments provide affordable one-bedroom or two-bedroom units for low-moderate income elderly people. Oak Ridge TownhousesOak Ridge Townhouses – The first affordable family townhouse community for Bradford County in more than 20 years, will soon become a reality. Site excavation work is almost complete and building construction is underway. Located in north Towanda Borough, Oak Ridge will contain 40 townhouses, 28 two-bedroom and 12 three-bedroom units for low-to-moderate income families. Old Doctor’s House ApartmentsOld Doctor’S House Apartments – Renovation of this building, located at 106 Main Street in Laceyville, Wyoming County was started in June, 2005. In July, 2006 it was opened for residency. The building underwent complete renovation and provides three apartments for the elderly. Area businesses providing banking, groceries and eating services enhance the location of this site. The development is known as the ‘Old Doctor’s House Apartments’. Development cost was $386,000. Station House ApartmentsStation House Apartments – September 2008: Renovation of this keystone building, located at 243 Main Street in Susquehanna, Susquehanna County has started. The building, built approximately in 1900 is in a state of disrepair and will undergo major renovation. Once completed, the project will provide six apartments on 2nd and 3rd floors for the elderly and two commercial units on first floor. Project cost is estimated at $1.8 million.
