This program is available in Bradford, Susquehanna and Tioga counties for first-time homebuyers.
Eight-hour workshops teach consumers about all aspects of home purchase and homeownership.
One-on-one counseling is available to assist the homebuyer with the purchase of their home.
Down payment and closing cost assistance may be available to eligible households.

TREHAB first offered the Homeownership Program in Bradford County in 1994. Since then the program has been offered throughout TREHAB’s service area and is now available in Bradford, Susquehanna and Tioga counties.
The program provides homebuyer pre-screening, a series of intensive workshops to teach consumers about all aspects of homeownership, one-on-one counseling and down payment/closing cost assistance to eligible households.
Inter-program cooperation and collaboration provide an essential and efficient element to the program. Homeownership builds as participants gain access to mortgage programs offered by Rural Development (RD), Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Veterans Affairs (VA), and affordable "in-house" mortgage programs offered by area lenders. The key program to establish a system of collaboration and cooperation of other related programs is the PA Dept. of Community & Economic Development HOME Program, which provides funding for the project to be administered.
Homeownership provides a way for families to build their assets, provide a good family environment and to become a part of the community.
Since its inception the Homeownership Program has accomplished the following:

583 Households Purchased a Home
(This final figure represents 41% of workshop graduates successfully reaching their home purchase goal!)
